Kevin’s Picks: TeraCopy
Need to move a ton of files? TeraCopy is a fast, reliable alternative to Windows file transfer, especially when you're dealing with a large amount of files.
This time, I'm going to mention a file transfer program I use occasionally called TeraCopy. It has a FREE version that I strongly recommend, particularly in situations where you are copying and pasting large amounts of data. TeraCopy works very well for that and is more reliable than the copy-and-paste feature built into Windows.
It can also be installed using PatchMyPC.
TeraCopy offers many more features that I haven't used yet, so I recommend checking them out. I also encourage you to purchase a TeraCopy license to support them.
I recently retired a hard drive I used for backups and moved the data to my Network-Attached Storage (NAS), which required transferring hundreds of gigabytes over a few hours. TeraCopy proved very useful for this and transferred data faster than the built-in Windows feature. Windows file transfer tends to become unreliable with large data transfers, whereas TeraCopy doesn't appear to have this issue.
