These Are the Apps I Recommend Getting Rid of After Installing Windows 11
Here’s my list of Windows 11 apps and third-party programs I remove on every setup—and how to get rid of them step by step. Every system’s a little different, but the cleanup process is the same.
Here are the pre-installed Windows 11 apps and third party programs that I remove every time I setup a computer, and how to remove them. Every computer is different and will have different apps pre-installed, including those from third parties.
Microsoft apps can include, but are not limited to:
Cortana
Microsoft Teams (the FREE version)
Microsoft To Do
People
Solitaire
OneDrive
Clipchamp
Media Player
Xbox Live
Maps
News and Weather
Journal
Mail and Calendar
Movies and TV
Third Party apps I remove:
Microsoft Office (trial)
Spotify
WhatsApp
Camo Studio
LinkedIn
Kindle
How To Remove (Uninstall) Apps
To remove apps from Windows 11, you'll first need to go to the Start Menu, and into Settings (gear icon).
Then, go to "Apps" on the left.
If this is a fresh install of Windows 11, you'll see a number of pre-installed apps, as mentioned above. Click the three vertical dots next to the app you want to remove, and click "uninstall".
You'll be asked to confirm that you want to uninstall the particular app. Click the second "uninstall" button to confirm.
Rinse and repeat until you have removed ALL of that pre-installed apps and third party programs and apps you want to get rid of. Sadly, this is the simplest way to do it.
It's very unfortunate that Microsoft prioritizes profit from bundles all of these apps and partner programs in Windows 11, instead of prioritizing our experience using Windows. It's up to us to take time out of our day to remove them. I honestly find that really offensive, but that's the way it is.
