Installing and Using the 1Password Chrome Extension
In this post, I’ll walk you through how to install the 1Password extension for Chrome. It’s quick to set up and makes logging into websites way easier once you're signed in.
Thank you for your interest in my 1Password How To blog post series. In this post, I will show you how to install the Chrome extension for 1Password, the Password Manager.

In the top right-hand corner of Chrome, click the puzzle piece icon. Then, click “Manage Extensions” at the bottom of the list.
At the top left of the Extensions page, click the three horizontal lines (hamburger icon).
Next, click the “Open Chrome Web Store” link, which will open in a new tab.
In the Chrome Web Store, type “1Password” in the search box, and either select “1Password” in the list and hit enter, or click it using your mouse.
Here’s what it looks like in the Chrome Web Store search results. Click it to open the dedicated page to install it.
This is what it looks like on the dedicated extension page. Click to install it, then you’ll need to either create a 1Password account and log into it, or simply login using your username and password.
Beyond this point, 1Password should recognize the website you’re on and auto-fill your login details.
Final Thoughts
That’s all there is to it! Once the 1Password Chrome extension is installed and you’re logged in, it’ll start recognizing websites and offering to fill in your login details automatically.
While I personally prefer using the desktop app for a bit more control, the browser extension is a convenient option that many people find helpful.
